Music Therapy

Create a Music CD as therapy. I have found that familiar music can be very theraputic to the senior.  Cheerful music (e.g., big band or jazz) played during simple activities or while just visiting can really lift their mood.

I like to create a CD with several groups of songs on it to help the senior's mood. To create one for your senior,
  1. First, I recommend you find several songs, about 10 minutes worth, which matches their present mood (e.g., anxiety, stress, depression).
  2. Second, find several other musical selections (about 10 minutes) which represent a mood between their present mood and the mood you wish for them to achieve.
  3. Third, find several songs (about 10 minutes worth) which match the desired mood you wish for the senior to achieve (e.g., joy, relaxation, communication). Record all these songs on to a CD .
This tool can be used over and over as needed.
